Meeting the Medicine: An Invitation to Explore Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
There are moments in our lives when words begin to feel like fences.
When the stories we tell in therapy—though true—no longer touch the root of our pain.
When healing feels like it’s just out of reach, even though we’ve done “all the work.”
It’s in these moments that the medicine can begin to whisper.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is not a magic cure, nor is it a bypass for the deep work of healing.
It is a doorway—one that opens inward.
What Is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?
KAP combines the powerful, neuroplastic effects of ketamine with the grounding, supportive container of psychotherapy. It’s a collaborative, intentional process—where psychedelic medicine meets talk therapy to support shifts that might otherwise take months, or even years, to unfold.
Ketamine is a legal, FDA-approved medication traditionally used in medical settings for anesthesia and pain relief. In recent decades, research has shown its effectiveness in rapidly reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, and existential distress. When paired with skilled, trauma-informed therapy, the experience can be profound, offering insight, emotional release, and renewed connection to self.
Who Might Benefit From KAP?
Those who feel stuck in traditional talk therapy
Individuals navigating treatment-resistant depression or anxiety
People facing grief, life transitions, or existential questions
Couples seeking reconnection, perspective, and emotional clarity
Anyone longing to meet themselves more honestly and compassionately
KAP is not about fixing what’s broken. It’s about remembering what’s whole.
It’s for the parts of you that have gone quiet—the ones that still carry wonder, sorrow, wisdom, and longing.
What Does a KAP Journey Look Like?
KAP isn’t a one-time trip—it’s a process held in three phases:
Preparation
We begin with intention. You’ll meet with your therapist to discuss your goals, assess fit, and prepare emotionally, mentally, and practically for your journey.Medicine Session(s)
In a safe, comfortable setting, you’ll be guided through a ketamine experience—usually through a lozenge or intramuscular injection. You may lie down, wear an eye mask, and listen to music as you journey inward. Your therapist will be present the entire time, providing grounding support and attunement.Integration
This is where the real magic unfolds. In the days and weeks after the session, we work together to make meaning of your experience, weaving insights into your daily life and relationships. Integration is the bridge between the inner journey and lasting change.
A Note on Trust
Working with ketamine in a therapeutic context is not about escaping your life—it’s about coming home to it with more presence, softness, and clarity. It’s not for everyone, and that’s okay. What matters is that you feel safe, informed, and supported.
There’s a difference between altering consciousness and expanding it.
Between numbing out and turning toward.
KAP invites you to slow down, listen deeply, and meet the medicine as a companion—not a solution, but a catalyst.
If you’re feeling the pull—curious, cautious, open, or somewhere in between—this is your invitation to explore. Gently. Intentionally. And with care.
You don’t have to carry it all alone.
